Parkdean Resorts: Warmwell Holiday Park Review

Warmwell Parkdean Resorts is a family-friendly holiday park located in Dorset – it’s a fantastic choice for families looking for an affordable UK break, with plenty of on-site facilities including an indoor pool, entertainment venue and loads of kids’ activities. The site is located in Dorchester, not far from Weymouth, so it’s perfect for days out with the kids – I’ve added what’s on offer locally below. The accommodation is dotted within woodland, which makes it feel beautifully peaceful (it was so quiet at night!) and we woke up to bird song in the mornings. The only thing to be aware of is that it’s a little bit hilly in places. The park has a gorgeous fishing lake and a very relaxed vibe.

Things to do: What activities are there at Warmwell Holiday Park?

I’m starting my review of Warmwell Parkdean Resorts focussing on the activities that the holiday park offers – as they can be a big part of family holidays. There’s plenty to do on-site at this one, and they’ve catered well for kids of all ages – from tiny tots through to teens. The indoor swimming pool, with a wave machine, is a nice place to take a dip – and there’s a waterslide there too. You can also book onto pool activities (things like inflatables, kayaks, aqua paddlers & aqua jets) which can be particularly handy for entertaining the kids indoors if you get a rainy day.

For little ones, the site offers activities like a mini 4×4 driving experience, soft play, crafts, character shows, balance bikes and toddler sports. Older kids can enjoy high ropes, adventure golf, the sports dome, an indoor clip and climb, archery, laser tag, the Bear Grylls Survival Academy and the roller disco. My two really enjoyed the rollerskating – it was only a fiver for 45 minutes and they were the only ones there so they thought it was brilliant!

What makes Warmwell Holiday Park really unique is the 110m dry ski slope – another plus if you’re visiting with older kids. Finn really wanted to take a snowboarding lesson but unfortunately it was cancelled due to the instructor being unwell. You can also book ringo sessions and slide down in those (the times didn’t match up with our plans but it looked like great fun!) and there’s a smaller slope for little ones too.

Though this holiday park had something for the whole family, it’s worth mentioning that it’s particularly good for older kids and teens. (Which isn’t always an easy thing to find!) The arcade area was absolutely massive with 2p machines, VR, pool tables and all sorts – Finn and Lola loved spending the evenings in there.

You can also hire bikes or follow the nature trail for walks through the woods. For the bookable activities, just scan the QR code given at check-in to see slots and what’s on offer. We pre-booked some bits before our visit – and I would definitely recommend doing so if you’re visiting at peak times. The park also offers some activities for adults – things like Sip & Paint, water fitness and linked up Bingo. We played one evening (it was about £10 for a half book) and the prizes were up to £2000! (Of course, we didn’t win a thing! 😂)

The entertainment area offers activities for younger children during the day and things for the whole family of an evening. The games and shows for little ones started at dinner time, followed by things like bingo, quizzes and gameshows from around 8pm, and then a singing show about 9pm. The later shows weren’t our cup of tea but the kids liked the gameshows.

What’s the accommodation like at Warmwell Holiday Park?

Parkdean Resorts Warmwell Holiday Park Review, Dorset, frugal mum guide, photo of superior lodge accommodation

Warmwell Holiday Park offers wooden lodges for their accommodation and we loved how spacious ours was. There was a main kitchen / living area with a dining table that seated 6, two sofas, a TV, a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen with a large dishwasher. The integrated fridge and freezer had plenty of room for a full shop and the cupboards had all the pots, pans and utensils needed for easy self-catering. There wasn’t a starter pack (with things like washing up liquid), which is quite unusual for a holiday park stay, so make sure you bring everything needed. The lodge had 3 bedrooms – two of which were a really good size and had their own TVs. The beds were comfortable and we were at the back of the site where it was extremely quiet which was fab. Here are some photos of our accommodation:

All of the lodges had a parking spot – ours was directly next to our accommodation which made loading / unloading super simple. The only issue was the heating – the radiators were lovely and warm but the smaller bedroom didn’t have one and the temperature did drop down overnight. If you’re visiting outside of the summer season, check what your accommodation type offers. The internet signal was also terrible across the whole park – it did have free WiFi but it kept dropping out which was a bit annoying as we couldn’t use our Roku. Overall, we thought our holiday home was really good value for money (I’ve added costs further down) and if you’ve got a slightly bigger budget the lodges with hot tubs would be perfect!

Local Area: What is there to do near Warmwell Holiday Park?

Weymouth

The seaside town of Weymouth is fabulous and only 20 minutes away – we ended up there twice! There’s a gorgeous stretch of white sandy beach with amusements and a ferris wheel on offer too. The town offers restaurants, fish & chips (The Old Harbour Fish & Chip shop was sooo tasty and had gluten-free options!) and plenty of ice-cream shops, as well as a theatre. Slightly away from the seafront you’ll find the marina – we had a lovely meal at the Prezzo there (bring your Tesco Clubcard vouchers!) with a great view of the water and boats. If you’re visiting over the summer months, Weymouth is absolutely perfect for a budget-friendly family beach day.

SEA LIFE Weymouth Aquarium

Also around a 20 minute drive from Warmwell Holiday Park, you’ll find SEA LIFE Weymouth Aquarium – we had a fantastic afternoon there. It’s not like your usual SEA LIFE Centres, it’s a 5 acre site (you’ll need a dry day as lots of it is outdoors) with play areas, splash zones, penguins, seals, otters and an underwater tunnel where sharks and turtles swim right above your head. The whole site is spread out across a large outdoor park and the keeper talks throughout the day were fantastic. There’s plenty of space for children to run around, you can bring a picnic and it’ll easily fill a whole afternoon. For all the details check out my SEA LIFE Weymouth Aquarium Review.

Durdle Door & Lulworth Cove

Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are two of Dorset’s most iconic (and totally breathtaking) spots. They’re completely free to visit so they’re perfect for a budget-friendly family day out – though the parking is pretty pricey so you’ll need to factor that in. Both are just a 20 minute drive from Warmwell Holiday Park. You can park up at Lulworth and enjoy a scenic walk along the coastal path to Durdle Door – it’s a bit steep in places, so pack sturdy shoes, but the views are absolutely worth it. The walk is spectacular, the kids can enjoying playing on the beach and there’s plenty of space for a picnic with a view!

Paultons Park & Peppa Pig World

If you’re up for a longer drive, and fancy a theme park day, Paultons Park is around an hour from Warmwell Holiday Park near the New Forest. It’s a fabulous theme park with rollercoasters for older kids, as well as the infamous Peppa Pig World area for toddlers and younger children. Paultons Park is one of the UK’s top family attractions – it’s clean, well run and family-focused – and we’ve also always found the queues to be a lot shorter than many other theme parks. Check out my Paultons Park & Peppa Pig World Guide for more info.

What facilities are there at Warmwell Holiday Park?

Parkdean Resorts Warmwell Holiday Park Review, Dorset, frugal mum guide, photo of shop

There’s a decent sized shop on-site at Warmwell Holiday Park. We often venture elsewhere to shop but I packed quite a lot into the car with us so we actually just got the bits we needed at the holiday park. Things were priced pretty typically – 2pts of milk was £1.65, a loaf of bread was £1.95, 6 eggs were £2.99 and they had some hot lunch bits (sausage rolls and pasties) for £2-£3 each. There was a small gluten free section too. There’s also a really large restaurant on-site if you don’t fancy cooking. Warmwell is one of the Parkdean sites that offers all-inclusive dining packages (click through for more info) – though not all dates are available.

How much is a holiday at Parkdean Resorts Warmwell Holiday Park – is it good value for money?

Parkdean Resorts Warmwell Holiday Park Review, Dorset, frugal mum guide, photo of bungee trampoline

We thought our stay at Parkdean Resorts Warmwell Holiday Park was really good value for money – our Monday-Friday trip in a superior 3 bedroom lodge cost £289. (Around £72 per night.) We stayed slightly out-of-season, in the middle of May, which kept costs down. The accommodation was really comfortable and spacious, the site offers loads of kids’ activities and the local area is absolutely jam-packed with gorgeous beaches and family days out. I would highly recommend a UK staycation in Dorset – there’s so much to do and Warmwell Holiday Park is a brilliant base to explore from. Have a lovely time! 😊 For more information, and prices for your dates, click here to check out Warmwell Holiday Park on the Parkdean Resorts website.
