Eurocamp: Domaine des Ormes Review

Eurocamp Holiday Review, Domaine des Ormes, Brittany, France, frugal mum photo of indoor pool

In June 2026, we took a little French road trip using Eurocamp campsites to hop between Northern and Southern Brittany. We split our time between Domaine des Ormes in the North, near Mont Saint-Michel, and Le Mané Guernehué in Southern Brittany (fantastic for a waterpark getaway!). We really enjoyed our stay at Domaine des Ormes – it’s a fantastic campsite that caters well to kids of all ages and we’d definitely stay there again. Here’s my review and everything that you need to know about staying with Eurocamp at Domaine des Ormes in Brittany, France.

What was Domaine des Ormes like?

Domaine des Ormes is a fabulous resort and a brilliant option if you’re on the hunt for an action-packed holiday – there is so much to do. This one had a real Center Parcs vibe so it’s a great alternative. With a fantastic subtropical indoor pool complex, it’s one of the best Eurocamp resorts for an out-of-season holiday. The site boasts so many kids’ activities that it’s like a mini adventure park – there’s plenty on offer for children of all ages. The park offers everything from horse riding, to treetop adventures, a golf course, a climbing wall, fishing, pedalos, sports, kids’ clubs, watersports, outdoor swimming pools and more!

Finn thought the wakeboarding was amazing (€20) – it was his first time trying it and the instructor was brilliant – and Lola had a blast on the zip lines (€6) over the lake! All of the entertainment, the restaurants, the shop and the pools are at the front of the site grouped together. This made it really easy to access everything, and kept the accommodation area quiet and peaceful. This site caters well for kids of all ages – with activities to suit tiny tots through to teens – it’s a fantastic resort if you’ve got kids of mixed ages. The staff run activities like football tournaments throughout the day free of charge too.

As well playgrounds, the resort had a bouncy castle, a volleyball court, sports courts and mini-golf – perfect for when it cooled down later in the day. The evening entertainment included things like discos, quizzes and late night swimming. We visited during a heat wave, with temperatures as high as 42 degrees, and all of the pools had extended opening hours which was fantastic – some until 11pm! The Domaine des Ormes app was absolutely brilliant – you could see everything happening, opening times, restaurant menus and book activities all in one place. You can also take part in a free trail around the grounds – ‘Quest of the Ormes’.

The resort has a proper village feel (it’s huge!) and you could easily stay on-site if you didn’t fancy venturing out locally. The food in the supermarket was generally really reasonably priced and there were several restaurants to choose from. We did our main food shop at a Carrefour nearby – about a 10 minute drive away – but the shop on the resort had some tasty looking pre-made baguettes and cakes for simple lunches for a couple of euros. Though make sure you bring your own bits if you have allergies – my son and I are gluten-free so we couldn’t eat any of these yummy things! 😢

What were the swimming pools like?

Eurocamp Holiday Review, Domaine des Ormes, Brittany, France, frugal mum photo of subtropical pool

The subtropical swimming complex at Domaine des Ormes is gorgeous and it was lovely and warm inside so you can hop between slides and pools without getting cold. The main pool has a wave machine and my two adored the lazy river which also went outside. For the little ones, there were shallower areas and a toddler play pool, and older kids will love the waterslides too. If you’re visiting outside of the summer months, or looking to entertain the kids on a wet day, the indoor pool is absolutely perfect. (I enjoyed chilling in the jacuzzi as well!) There are also several outdoor swimming pools at Domaine des Ormes so I’m going to do a bit of a photo dump in this part of my review.

The main outside waterpark area was fabulous – we had a brilliant evening swim the minute we arrived as the weather was scorching! This pool had some waterslides and was split into a deeper swimming area and a shallower pool for younger kids. The water was a lovely temperature and there were sun beds (free) dotted around. There were a couple of standard outside pools too – once next to the Clubhouse restaurant and another by the hotel.

The site is really well maintained – everything felt clean and well organised throughout our stay. You’ll also be thrilled to know that speedo shorts weren’t required for the males here! (My son and husband were delighted! 😂) Just be aware that the pool areas aren’t properly supervised by lifeguards so don’t leave your children unattended. There is a viewing area in the indoor swimming pool for adults with older ones who’d prefer not to swim, and plenty of deck chairs dotted around near the pools too. Over the peak summer season the outdoor waterpark is open from 11am-6pm and the indoor pool from 10am-7pm.

Local Area: What is there to do near Domaine des Ormes?

Mont Saint-Michel

Eurocamp Holiday Review, Domaine des Ormes, Brittany, France, frugal mum photo of mont saint-michel

Although technically located in Normandy, Mont Saint-Michel is close enough to the border that it’s one of the most popular day trips for families staying in northern Brittany. Rising dramatically from the bay, the island looks like something from a fairy tale. It’s around a 30 minute drive from Domaine des Ormes and it was a real highlight of our trip – it’s absolutely magical! You can actually explore the village for free and use the free shuttle bus from the mainland car parks – my Mont Saint-Michel Guide has all of the details.

Cobac Parc

Cobac Parc combines a traditional theme park with a water park – it’s around a 15-20 minute drive from Domaine des Ormes. There are family rides, splash zones and attractions aimed at younger children, making it a great option during warmer weather. It’s conveniently located between Saint-Malo and Rennes if you fancy exploring whilst you’re out and about.

La Bourbansais Zoo

Eurocamp Holiday Review, Domaine des Ormes, Brittany, France, frugal mum photo of La Bourbansais Zoo

For little ones who love animals, La Bourbansais Zoo is just 20 minutes from Domaine des Ormes – it’s home to over 400 animals from around 80 different species. Set within the grounds of a historic château, the zoo offers spacious enclosures, beautiful gardens and regular feeding demonstrations throughout the day. It’s a fantastic family day out, combining wildlife, history and conservation in one location. Or, for something totally different, Alligator Bay looks like an interesting place to visit too!

Beach days

If you’re looking to swap the pool for the sea, Domaine des Ormes is around a 30 minute drive from some of Brittany’s beautiful beaches. Head to the sandy beaches of Saint Malo, the picturesque coastline around Cancale or the family-friendly shores of Saint Coulomb for a day of swimming, rock pooling and walks along the stunning Emerald Coast.

Local towns and cities

Eurocamp Holiday Review, Domaine des Ormes, Brittany, France, frugal mum photo of st malo

There are lots of pretty cities and towns in Brittany – perfect for a day trip or a meal out. We absolutely loved St Malo and I would highly recommend spending some time there for both the beach and to wander the city walls – it’s about a 30 minute drive from Domaine des Ormes. If the weather lets you down, the Grand Aquarium Saint-Malo is the perfect way to entertain the kids on a rainy day. A similar distance from the resort, you’ll also find the gorgeous town of Dinan. The medieval town is filled with colourful half-timbered houses, cobbled streets and impressive historic buildings.

Was the accommodation good?

Eurocamp Holiday Review, Domaine des Ormes, Brittany, France, frugal mum photo of ultimate accommodation

We’ve stayed in several Eurocamp Ultimate holiday homes and they’ve all been pretty much identical – so the photos here are likely a good example of what you can expect if you book this range. It isn’t quite as special as the Ultimate Plus (they’re newer and have lots of extras) but it does offer some good perks and the space is brilliant. In the kitchen area we had a fridge-freezer, an oven, a dishwasher, a microwave, a toaster, a coffee machine and a kettle. There was also air-conditioning and a very comfortable fabric seating area which doubled as a sofa bed. The TV only had French channels but you can plug in things like a Roku or a laptop to watch Netflix etc.

As it was Eurocamp’s Ultimate range we got towels and bed linen included, and the beds were pre-made too which makes life a bit easier. Our accommodation had three bedrooms – we had plenty of space in the main bedroom which had a big wardrobe, a large bed and a dressing table area. The Ultimate ranges are perfect if you want a bit more space and they offer so much more storage too. My son had the twin room with two singles and my daughter was in the bunk bed room. The large decking was great with plenty of space to eat and relax outside.

Our particular accommodation was really clean and a great base for our stay. The beds were comfy and the windows had bug screens, blackout blinds and curtains so we slept well. I always ask for ‘a quiet spot’ in the comments area when I book our holidays and so far it seems to have worked really well – I love my sleep too much!

Just as a side note, if you’re looking at other Eurocamp accommodation types for your trip, (even though cleaning is included in all other countries) in France you can only get the cleaning service included if you book a Premium Exclusive holiday home or something from their Ultimate range. If you book from their other ranges you can pay extra to add the end of stay cleaning on, or tackle it yourself if you want to. What facilities are on site at Domaine des Ormes?

Eurocamp Holiday Review, Domaine des Ormes, Brittany, France, frugal mum photo of supermarket

  • The supermarket on-site offered a wide range of food at reasonable prices so we picked up bits as needed. I noted down a few examples (June 2026): 6 eggs €1.80, 1 litre milk €2.50, Butter €1.77, Baguette €1.30, Frozen pizza around €3, Big crisps around €2. Opening time: 7.45am-8.30pm.
  • We were able to park directly in front of the holiday home that we stayed in, making it easy to load and unload the car of luggage and food shopping.
  • Most Eurocamp accommodation doesn’t come with a TV – it’s only included with their higher ranges – so it’s handy to take a tablet or laptop with you with some movies for when you want a quiet evening if it’s not included with your holiday home.
  • The resort had free WiFi.
  • There were several restaurants to choose from – the one below overlooked the pool and you could get takeaway food from there too. I’ve also included an example of a menu so you can get an idea of food options and costs…

The resort is just under a 5 hour drive from CalaisEurocamp have access to discounted ferry slots to Calais which are usually significantly cheaper than booking directly. The prices fluctuate but a return on the ferry from Dover to Calais is typically around £100 and the Le Shuttle Channel Crossing is around £250. Our toll costs came to around €30 each way.

How much does a Eurocamp holiday at Domaine des Ormes cost – was it good value for money?

Hopefully my review has been helpful – our 4 night stay at Domaine des Ormes in Northern Brittany (France) in a Eurocamp Ultimate holiday home was worth about £180 per night. This one is dearer than some other resorts but it does offer a lot. Our stay was gifted, but if you’re looking at similar dates for next year (we stayed there near the end of June) prices start from around £120 per night depending on which accommodation type you choose.

This site is definitely the best option for year-round stays in Brittany, and it’s perfect for families looking for a Center Parcs alternative with loads of kids’ activities. It’s well-located near the ports too – making it a really easy road trip. It’s a well-maintained site with a lovely relaxed feel, cheerful staff and some great days out nearby. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again! For more information, and prices for your dates, click here to check out Domaine des Ormes on the Eurocamp website.

As we home-educate the kids, we are fortunate to be able travel term-time which is a great money saver, but if you’re restricted to school holiday dates then look for May half-term getaways – they’re always so much cheaper than the summer holidays! Having said that, affordable school summer holiday travel is possible – I went hunting on the Eurocamp website and found 50 family holidays under £1k for August 2026 – with prices starting from less than £300!
