Top tips for a budget-friendly Eurocamp holiday near Barcelona:
- Travel off-peak: When you head to the city, visit the main attractions early in the morning or later in the day to avoid crowds and save on entrance fees. The shoulder seasons will also be much less busy than the main summer months.
- Bring your food and drink: Supermarkets and local bakeries offer affordable options for picnics, saving you money on meals out even if you don’t fancy making sandwiches. Invest in a good cool bag rucksack and refillable water bottles – we don’t go anywhere without ours and it saves us a fortune!
- Use public transport: The trains and buses in Spain are family-friendly and cost-effective, so avoid private transfers and use public transport (or your feet!) to get around where possible. Plus, all of these Eurocamp resorts near Barcelona aren’t far from the nearest airport so you could avoid car hire costs too.
- Plan your route: Use my Barcelona itinerary guide to plan your route in advance to avoid wearing little legs out and wasted time travelling between the attractions.

- Pack carefully: Comfortable shoes and lightweight strollers are essential for city visits.
- Look for Eurocamp deals: Eurocamp often have fantastic discounts and early booking deals, so be sure to book early or keep an eye out for special offers to cut accommodation costs.
- Buy a combo ticket: If you want to visit multiple attractions in the city, use a website like Tiqets to purchase a combination ticket for the most popular things to see and do in Barcelona – you can get some ‘skip the line‘ options too which is so handy if you’re visiting with kids over the peak summer months.
How do I travel from the UK to my Eurocamp holiday in Spain?
For ferry and channel crossings to/from Calais: Eurocamp have access to discounted slots which are usually significantly cheaper than booking directly. The prices fluctuate slightly but a return on the ferry from Dover to Calais is typically around £100 and the ‘Le Shuttle’ Channel Crossing was around £250 the last time we used it. From Calais to Spain, you’ll be looking at a drive time of 12 hours or more depending on where you stay.

Other ferry routes: If you’re looking for affordable ferry options to/from a different location then the Direct Ferries website is the best place to look. It’s a comparison website so you can easily compare prices and providers, see which route options are available and view any current deals. You can catch a ferry directly to Spain (to Santander or Bilbao) from Plymouth or Portsmouth.
For Eurocamp holidays with flights: Eurocamp offer some package holiday deals through Jet2holidays which include flights and car hire (click to check out). Not all resorts and destinations are available so many families book flights separately – use the Skyscanner website to hunt out the cheapest flights. You can sort car hire easily on websites like Expedia, or book your transfers to and from the airport through Suntransfers.
