I’ve picked out 5 of the best Eurocamp resorts on the Costa Brava coastline in Spain with fabulous amenities for families. 1. Eurocamp: Bella Terra

One of the best Eurocamp resorts for beach holidays on the Costa Brava, Camping Bella Terra is located right on the coastline. A medium-sized campsite, it has two swimming pools (including a kids’ pool), tennis courts and mini-golf. It’s perfect for Eurocamp holidays without a car as it’s located near the town of Blanes – you can wander along the seafront to shops and restaurants. It has two swimming pools open until 10pm in high season and a soundproofed underground disco (for over 16s). Camping Village Tucan is in a great location for days out and beach visits on the Costa Brava coastline – it’s just 1km from Lloret de Mar with golden sandy beaches, shops and restaurants. The bus stop by the park will take you to Barcelona, or head to Water World or hop on a glass bottom boat trip along the coast. The resort boasts a swimming pool with waterslides and a toddler splash pool, a kids’ club, trampolines, a playground, mini-golf and sports. 5. Eurocamp: Internacional de Calonge

Just 200m from the Costa Brava coastline, Internacional de Calonge is well-located for a seaside getaway. It’s a steeply terraced resort with fantastic views over the Bay of Palamós – though it may not be suitable for people with mobility issues. This one boasts a couple of swimming pools, waterslides, sports and kids’ clubs. Plus, you can use the facilities at Cala Gogo – walk or hop on the mini train between the resorts. The site is close to Platja d’Aro with beaches, shops and restaurants. For days out, head to the city of Girona or Aquadiver Water Park is 10 minutes away. How do I travel from the UK to my Eurocamp holiday on the Costa Brava?

For ferry and channel crossings to/from Calais: Eurocamp have access to discounted slots which are usually significantly cheaper than booking directly. The prices fluctuate slightly but a return on the ferry from Dover to Calais is typically around £100 and the ‘Le Shuttle’ Channel Crossing was around £250 the last time we used it.

The Costa Brava is about a 12 hour drive from Calais so you’ll want a stopover on the way. For our road trip to Spain, we did a hotel stay at Ace Hotel Chateauroux Déols (which was around a 5.5 hour drive from Calais) on the way down. It was a fantastic budget-friendly base for the night – we paid about £70 for a family room. On our way back we stayed in Limoges at Sure Hotel by Best Western – again this was a great base just off the motorway for a stop over mid-way back from Spain, around £90 for a family room.

Other ferry routes: If you’re looking for affordable ferry options to/from a different location then the Direct Ferries website is the best place to look. It’s a comparison website so you can easily compare prices and providers, see which route options are available and view any current deals. You can catch a ferry directly to Spain (to Santander or Bilbao) from Plymouth or Portsmouth.

For Eurocamp holidays with flights: Eurocamp offer some package holiday deals through Jet2holidays which include flights and car hire (click to check out). Not all resorts and destinations are available so many families book flights separately – use the Skyscanner website to hunt out the cheapest flights. You can sort car hire easily on websites like Expedia, or book your transfers to and from the airport through Suntransfers. The main airport for holidays on the Costa Brava is Girona Airport which offers flights from a wide range of destinations and some budget airline options too.

Is the Costa Brava a good place to visit with kids?

Absolutely! The Costa Brava is a brilliant destination for family holidays in Spain and you can even hop over the boarder to explore the South of France. It offers golden sandy beaches (perfect for budget-friendly family days out), brilliant Eurocamp resorts and loads of sunshine! During the summer months, temperatures usually range from 26°C to 30°C, with some hotter spells. Spring and autumn are pleasantly warm, typically seeing temperatures between 18°C and 25°C, making the shoulder seasons ideal for sightseeing and beach days without the peak summer crowds.

You’ll find artisan ice cream shops on most corners, bakeries in every town and brilliant sea food restaurants for some tasty paella. The Costa Brava is the perfect location for days out too – public transport in the region is inexpensive so it’s easy to hop on a bus or a train to visit cities like Barcelona and Girona. You could also head to Aquadiver or Water World aqua parks, take a glass bottom boat trip or explore the Medes Islands just off the coast. The Costa Brava has so much to offer family holidays.
