If you fancy a city break in Italy, here are my top 10 picks for the best Eurocamp resorts for holidays near Venice. If you’d love to visit Venice, but you’re looking for family-friendly accommodation that won’t break the bank, then consider staying at a nearby holiday park in the Adriatic region and travelling into the city from there. The Venetian Riviera has some incredible holiday parks, and all of these Eurocamp resorts are within easy reach of Venice by car or boat (from Punta Sabbioni). By travelling into Venice for the day, you can have a well-rounded family holiday with the kids and enjoy a city visit without needing a massive budget. The Venetian Riviera, on the northeast coast of Italy, is home to some of the best waterpark resorts too – offering families the best of both worlds – here are 10 Eurocamp sites near Venice that the kids will adore:
1. Eurocamp: Union Lido, Cavallino
5 star resort Union Lido is the biggest campsite in Italy (it’s like a mini town!), and I reckon it’s the best Eurocamp site for waterpark holidays near Venice! With a 1km private beach, multiple pools, tons of shops and restaurants, a fun fair and a whole host of activities – it’s ideal for family beach holidays and the main waterpark is incredible. We loved this place! You can also visit Venice via the Punta Sabbioni Ferry too. Check out my Union Lido Review to find out more. This resort has so much to do on-site and, with the ferry nearby for adventures in Venice, it’s a great no car option if you’d prefer to fly. When’s the best time to visit Venice?
If you want to visit Venice without the crowds then avoid the peak summer season. Even in the shoulder seasons (we visited in September this year) it can be insanely busy – we made the mistake of visiting on a weekend and it was absolutely manic. If you do have to visit in peak times, or on weekend dates, then it’s definitely worth buying some fast-track tickets to avoid spending all of your time waiting in queues – especially if you only have one day in the city. It’s also worth heading to the main attractions either first thing in the morning or late afternoon, to avoid the crowds that collect in the middle of the day and scheduled tours.

Can I see Venice in a day?
If you’re wondering if you can see Venice in a day then yes you definitely can – it’s more compact than some other cities and easy to navigate on foot or by boat. In fact, if you have children, it’s probably the perfect amount of time to explore. Venice doesn’t come with a jam packed itinerary, like you may have for somewhere larger like Rome, so it’s totally doable in a day. For the best things to see and do with kids in Venice, make sure you check out my guide: How to spend a day in Venice on a budget with kids.
How do I travel from the UK to my Eurocamp holiday in Italy?
For ferry and channel crossings to/from Calais – Eurocamp have access to discounted slots which are usually significantly cheaper than booking directly. The prices fluctuate slightly, but a return on the ferry from Dover to Calais is typically £100 (it was £112 for an example holiday on 8-15th Aug and ours was £95 in September) and the Le Shuttle Channel Crossing is around £250 (it was £254 for 8-15th Aug and a similar price for us in June). These costs were based on August dates – the price doesn’t really seem to change during peak school holiday times which is awesome!

Other routes: I’m not certain how many different ferry routes Eurocamp offer, but if you are looking for affordable options to/from a different location then the Direct Ferries website is the best place to look. It’s a comparison website for ferry travel so you can easily see all of the prices from different companies, which route options are available and any current offers running. If it’s not included then Direct Ferries is definitely the next best place to look for cheap ferry options.
For Eurocamp holidays with flights – You can’t book your flights through Eurocamp as a package deal, so you’ll need to book the flights yourself if you’d prefer not to drive. When it comes to the budget airlines, I think the best options are Jet2 and EasyJet – and for price comparison the Skyscanner website can be a great place to start. You can sort car hire easily on websites like Expedia, or book your transfers to and from the airport on the Suntransfers website before you go to make your trip stress free.
I hope that you found my article on the 10 best Eurocamp holidays near Venice useful – these resorts are all along the Venetian Riviera but if you’re happy to travel a little further then Lake Garda is also a fabulous base for family holidays in Italy. If you fancy combining a Venice day trip with a visit to Lake Garda then check out my articles: Lake Garda family holiday itinerary – the 10 best things to see and do with kids and The 5 best Lake Garda Eurocamp resorts for family holidays. Don’t forget to check if you need swimming caps for your trip as well – it’s very common in Italy and lots of the campsites require them, so you’ll want to bring these with you to keep costs down. Happy holidays! 😊
