A family review and guide for Paultons Park & Peppa Pig World

If you’re visiting the New Forest with kids then you’ve absolutely got to check out one of our favourite theme parks – Paultons Park, with Peppa Pig World, in Hampshire – so keep reading for my guide and review. We’ve been twice now – it’s so much fun and one of most clean and well-run attractions that we’ve visited. Whilst Paultons Park is famous for being home to Peppa Pig World, which is great news for those with little ones, the other side of the park is filled with rollercoasters for older kids – there’s something for everyone! So here’s my review of this fabulous theme park in Hampshire – as well as a ride guide (for the coasters and Peppa Pig World), information on facilities, the best places to stay near Paultons Park, what else there is to do nearby, photos and everything else you need to know.

Visits: September 2021 and May 2025

Where is Paultons Park / Peppa Pig World located?

Paultons Park, with Peppa Pig World, is located in Romsey in Hampshire – just off the M27 motorway near Southampton. It’s in the New Forest area so the surrounding countryside is also worth exploring, making it a great location for a UK family staycation for a blend of thrill-seeking and nature. It’s around 20 minutes from Southampton, and there are some great places to stay with the kids near Paultons Park – more on that below. Coming from London, the journey is around 2 hours, and from Bournemouth would be around 30 minutes. The nearest train station to Paultons Park is Southampton Central and it’s about a 15 minute taxi ride to/from the theme park from there.

What rides are there at Paultons Theme Park?

Paultons Park is split into two areas – with Peppa Pig World for younger visitors, and the main park for older kids. Let me give you a bit of a tour of both sides of the park – I’ve included pictures from our last two visits as we’ve been a couple of times, our most recent trip being in May 2025.

Peppa Pig World

This part of the park is totally themed like the TV show, with adorable buildings, Peppa characters to meet and gentle rides perfect for tiny thrill-seekers – it’s toddler heaven! There are loads of different rides, and the animals are on this side of the park too (more on that below). For an immersive, themed toddler-friendly experience it probably doesn’t get much better than this for a little Peppa Pig fan – Paultons Park have made it so magical. Top rides in Peppa Pig World include:

  • Grandpa Pig’s Boat Ride: A lovely, gentle ride for all ages.
  • Peppa’s Big Balloon Ride: A hot-air balloon themed carousel ride.

  • Miss Rabbit’s Helicopter Flight: A small helicopter themed ferris wheel.
  • George’s Dinosaur Adventure: Little ones can hop onto George’s dinosaur for a ride along the track.
  • The Queen’s Flying Coach Ride: A gentle monorail ride with views over Peppa Pig World.

The whole area is themed, including the restaurants and food outlets on that side of the park. And, though Peppa Pig World has been busier than the main theme park for both our visits to Paultons Park, the queue times are typically much quicker than lots of other UK theme parks. There’s also an indoor soft play if you need to shelter from bad weather.

Paultons Park

The rides in the main area at Paultons Park are perfect for older children – Lola was only 8 years old on our first visit but both kids were tall enough to go on most of things without an adult for when we’d had enough, or were feeling a bit green! 😂 The wait times for the rollercoasters and rides in the main theme park area were ‘0 minutes’ for both our visits – a weekday in September, and then more recently a Tuesday in May. (On some of the rides we were literally the only people on an empty rollercoaster!) These are some of our favourite rides and rollercoasters at Paultons Park:

  • Storm Chaser: A spinning rollercoaster for thrill-seekers – this one was too sickly for me 😂 but Finn and Lola thought it was brilliant.

  • Flight of the Pterosaur: A suspended rollercoaster with a dinosaur twist – we all loved this ride!

  • Velociraptor: A junior coaster that reverses halfway – this ride was also a big hit with my kids.

  • Cobra: Paultons Park’s biggest and longest rollercoaster – this is the best coaster in the park and a favourite from both our visits!

What else is there to see and do at Paultons Park?

When you need a break from the rollercoasters at Paultons Park, or if the little ones need a sit down after their Peppa Pig World adventures, then you can make the most of the gardens and animal areas too. There are tons of grassy spots for a peaceful picnic, and plenty of spaces for pushing a buggy around in the gardens if you’ve got a toddler in need of a nap.

If your kids love animals as much as my two do, then you’ll want catch feeding time for the penguins – they’re insanely cute! Check the times when you visit, so you can plan your day accordingly, but they offered two slots for this when we were there and there was plenty of seating available.

There are also other enclosures around the park with animals like lemurs, flamingos, other birds and giant tortoises. It’s certainly not a zoo, but there are some lovely animal areas and it can make a nice change from being thrown around on the rides! 😂 We tend to wander this bit when we’re letting our lunch go down before round two on the rollercoasters!

There are several play areas at Paultons Park too so if the kids need to get their wiggles out, hunt out one of the playgrounds dotted around the park. There are both bigger structures for older kids and also tamer areas for toddlers and younger ones.

What age is Paultons Theme Park suitable for?

Paultons Park is a brilliant family day out for kids of all ages – so if you’ve got a mix from toddlers to teens there’s something to occupy everyone. There are over 70 attractions, with a wide range of rides and activities to suit all ages. Peppa Pig World caters brilliantly for toddlers and children age 6 and under, whereas the main park is suitable for slightly older children, teens and adults. There are also some ‘over lap’ rides in the middle like the little green rollercoaster in Critters Creek and the ride on cars which my two loved when they were younger!

Because Paultons Park is so well known for Peppa Pig World, the main theme park often gets overlooked – making it a great theme park to visit with older ones if you don’t want to spend your whole day queueing! With two sides to the park, it’s a fantastic day out for families with children aged 2 to 13. And, for those (like me!) that find some of the bigger rollercoasters scary, Paultons Park offers just the right amount of thrill without the rides been too bonkers!

What facilities are there?

There are plenty restaurants and food huts around the site, as well as lots of toilets.  We only bought ice-creams, and instead brought a picnic and snacks to keep us going all day – you’re welcome to bring your own food and drink to Paultons Park. There are loads of picnic benches dotted around – and areas with shade too in case you’re visiting on a warm day – it was boiling hot on our first Paultons adventure a few years back! Bring swimming things if you are visiting in the summer – as the splash park is a great spot for the kids to cool off!

A family review and guide for Paultons Park & Peppa Pig World, frugal mum guide, photo of picnic area and splash zone

There’s tons of free parking, and you can have your hand stamped so that you can to-and-fro from the car if you want to bring a picnic but not carry it around all day. It was definitely a nice change not to have parking costs on top of the entry prices, as is so often the case. We also hired a locker for our drinks bottles, jumpers and snacks so that we could help ourselves as needed without carrying everything around. There are a few big gift / toy shops dotted around the park – so it’s definitely worth setting some boundaries with the kids if you haven’t got a big budget for any extras as they do look rather tempting.

When does Paultons Park open?

Paultons Park is open most of the year, but they do close for selected dates and also for the month of January, so check their website to plan your visit. Paultons Park is typically open daily from around 10am, with closing time around 5pm, though this varies with the seasons and it may also be dependent on other factors like events. It’s still open over the Christmas period – so wrap up warm if you’re visiting then! The festive season also comes with additional extras at the park such as Santa’s Grotto. For safety reasons, some of the rides will close in the event of wet weather or high winds so make sure that you look ahead at the forecast before you book. For a fee, you’re able to change the date of your visit if need be.

Can you do Paultons Park in a day?

You can definitely do Paultons Park in a day, as the queue times there are typically lower than other theme parks. I think that because of its location down in the South of England, and due to it being further from London than other theme parks, that Paultons Park often gets overlooked. But, that means that the queues are often much shorter than theme parks elsewhere – which is definitely a bonus! So, it can be easy to get on everything in a day at Paultons Park, though I suspect peak times like the summer holidays would be busier than when we visited. Having said that, my sister has taken her kids several times during the summer holidays and also spent very little time queueing – so that’s definitely a win for Paultons Park!

Where are the best places to stay with kids near Paultons Park?

After a fun-filled day of rides and attractions, you’ll need somewhere comfy to rest your heads – so I’ve hunted out the best places to stay near Paultons Park / Peppa Pig World with kids. I’ve included a couple of hotels and some fantastic holiday parks for those looking for a longer stay or a mini-break with added entertainment and activities for the kids. Paultons Park can be easily reached from Hampshire, Dorset and Sussex – so I’ve included some great family-friendly UK staycation options – and the New Forest National Park is of course nearby too. Here’s a sneaky peak at my top 4 picks, but check out my article: The 10 best places to stay near Paultons Park / Peppa Pig World for all the details and even more options for hotels and holiday parks nearby.

What else is there to do near Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World?

Hampshire and the New Forest area is packed full of things to do with the kids – so you can have plenty of fun family days out if you’re staying near Paultons Park / Peppa Pig World for a longer family holiday. I think the location makes it perfect for a UK staycation with the kids, and you can balance out an expensive treat day to Paultons Park / Peppa Pig World with trips to places like Moors Valley Country Park and walking through the New Forest on a deer hunt. You can also visit New Forest Wildlife Park (take the kids the Blue Peter Badges with you to get them in for free), get soaked at New Forest Water Park, or head to Portsmouth with older kids to visit Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. How much do Paultons Theme Park tickets cost – is it good value for money?

There’s no way around the fact that Paultons Park is an expensive day out if your kids are over 1m! Children under 1m can enter for free – and there’s loads for them to do in the Peppa Pig area – so it’s actually great value if you have toddlers or young children. However, though it can be a pricey day out, it’s definitely one of the best theme parks in the UK – it has short queue times and high quality rides. The whole park is really clean and well-run, compared with other similar places, and the staff are all friendly and welcoming.

A family review and guide for Paultons Park & Peppa Pig World, frugal mum guide, photo of peppa pig ride

For our first visit we paid around £150 for our family of four, back in September 2021, but we all really enjoyed it – the rides are fantastic and we were there all day so the kids definitely got their money’s worth! Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to find any discount codes or offers for Paultons Park to reduce the cost – they don’t take part in cereal box offers or the Tesco Clubcard Scheme – but do check their website as they may run their own offers from time to time. Prices for 2025 are around £45 per ticket for those over 1m, though this may vary with different dates. Pre-book online before you visit because tickets bought on the gate will be dearer – and though it’s pricey it does make a great treat day alongside free wanders in the New Forest if you’re visiting Hampshire for a family holiday. I hope that my review and guide has been helpful – have a lovely time! 😊
