Somerset with Kids: Puxton Adventure Park Review

Welcome to my review of Puxton Adventure Park in Weston-Super-Mare – if you’re visiting Somerset with the kids then this is a really affordable fun family day out. We had a brilliant week away, using Butlins Minehead as our base for the week, and visiting Puxton Adventure Park during our trip was one of Finn and Lola’s favourite parts. So, as well as my review, here’s everything that you need to know about Puxton Park including where to stay in Somerset, opening times, where it’s located, what attractions are there and more!

Visit: June 2023 (Updated January 2025)

What is Puxton Park and where is it located?

Puxton Park in Somerset is just off the A370, around 10 minutes from Weston-Super-Mare and about half an hour from Bristol. It’s a family-friendly adventure park with play areas, kids’ activities and farm animals. There’s plenty of free parking, which is always a win when you’re dragging little ones and picnic bags from the car. The entrance is well signposted, and staff were friendly and efficient. Once inside, the park feels spacious and well laid out, with a mix of indoor and outdoor attractions to suit the unpredictable British weather.

What attractions are there at Puxton Adventure Park?

Puxton Park has lots of different things on offer to keep the kids busy all day – Finn and Lola really enjoyed it. We spent about 4 hours there, and they would have liked longer, but unfortunately we visited on our last day of the holiday so we needed to drive home. It’s a great blend of attractions, play areas and animals. Here were some of their favourite activities and areas at Puxton Park:

  • Bumper Boats: The bumper boats were great fun – the kids went on several times! Each boat had a water pistol so they could squirt everyone else (including us as we watched nearby! 😂).

  • High Ropes: The High Ropes area is like a smaller version of Go Ape type equipment. Lola was a bit frightened, but Finn really enjoyed it and finished the whole course. (Trainers are needed for the high ropes so come prepared.)

  • Indoor Soft Play (with drop slides too): The soft play at Puxton Park is fab – not only would it be a lifesaver in bad weather but it was also just great fun for the kids. It’s best to bring the kids some trousers to wear though (if it’s shorts weather) to avoid friction marks from the slides, and socks are required too.

  • Feeding the animals: We bought some feed on the way in at the entrance, and Finn and Lola absolutely loved feeding the animals – especially the goats who were so cute and friendly.

Milking Time: Whilst we were there we watched the cows being milked, and there were all sorts of animal talks going on throughout the day.

  • Jurassic Jeeps: My two loved the Jurassic Jeeps ride, and went around the track several times.

Other activities: These were the bits that they enjoyed the most (and went on again and again!) but there’s loads more to do there. e.g. bouncy pillows, a wooden maze, playgrounds – plus, other activities like the miniature railway which were more suited to younger children. The lake was closed when we visited.

What age is Puxton Park suitable for?

Puxton Park is probably best suited to children from toddler age up to about 12 years old – there are a range of different activities to suit different age children so it’s a great base for a fun family day out with something for everyone. Finn and Lola really enjoyed our day at Puxton and could have happily spent a few more hours there. There were lots of different activities to do, and the animals were the icing on the cake – it’s a surprisingly big place with lots on offer. In case you have a furry friend, unfortunately dogs aren’t welcome at Puxton Park due to the animals.

What facilities are there at Puxton Park?

There’s a large restaurant and a cafe area on site, as well as toilets. As I mentioned above, inside the main building, the big soft play area would be great if the weather turned and you needed to keep the kids busy and dry until it cleared. We liked that the soft play wasn’t just for the little ones, as can often be the case, and it catered for older children too. I can’t comment on the food, as we only bought ice-creams and a milkshake, but the cakes etc looked tasty and were reasonably priced in the restaurant area.

There were also plenty of places to picnic – which is what we always do! There’s a large farm shop with fresh milkshakes as Puxton Park is a working farm too! My two loved feeding the animals (£1 for a bag of feed each) and the farm area was really interesting. There were also some other random animals like meerkats and porcupines too!

When does Puxton Park open?

Puxton Park is open daily from 9am to 5.30pm, tickets must be pre-booked online prior to your visit. They also run events throughout the year – so check what’s on offer before you visit. The only dates Puxton Park closes are Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, so you can visit year round, but it’s probably best to bring wellies for winter visits so that you can still make the most of the farm and playground areas.

How much does Puxton Adventure Park cost – is it good value for money?

An off-peak family ticket was £42 when we visited, which we thought was really reasonable compared to other family days out and attractions. For 2025, off-peak family tickets are £46 and peak dates are £62 – under twos enter free. My kids would have happily stayed longer if we’d had the time; they loved the animals and the activities like the Bumper Boats entertained them for ages – they went on again and again! Puxton Park also offer a 10% discount to military, NHS & Bluelight Card Holders using code BLUELIGHT at checkout.

The only thing I would say is that it was really quiet when we visited (a term-time weekday in June) so Finn and Lola were able to go on things again and again without queueing. It’s also pretty spread out, and there’s a lot of different things to do / see, so nowhere felt crowded even though there was a school trip there at the time.

However, there were only a few of things like the Bumper Boats – and in the ride on go-kart section there was only one working go-kart – so I’m not sure if the scale of things here would easily accommodate large crowds. Some areas were pretty small, and others could do with improvement – so that may be something to consider. But, if you’ve got kids aged around 12 and under, and you’re visiting Somerset, I would recommend a cheap and cheerful day at Puxton Adventure Park – we thought it was fantastic value for money at the off-peak rate. There aren’t many places nowadays that you can visit for around £10 per person! I hope that my review of Puxton Adventure Park in Somerset has been helpful – have a lovely time!

Where are the best places to stay in Somerset with kids?

If you’re planning to visit Somerset with the kids, and would like some family-friendly accommodation near Puxton Park, there are a few great options for places to stay – Haven Burnham-on-Sea Holiday Park is just an 18 minute drive from Puxton Adventure Park. For our visit we stayed at Butlins Minehead (make sure you check out my review), which is about an hour and 15 minutes away, so we had our day at Puxton Park on our way home as it was quite a journey time – but’s it’s also an option if you want to explore Somerset and the surrounding areas. Have a great time!
