Picking a holiday park over a hotel is one of the best ways to visit the most beautiful cities in Italy without spending a small fortune – and there are some fabulous Eurocamp resorts in Tuscany near Florence. We absolutely love Florence – it’s such a gorgeous city – it’s one of my favourite places in Italy. Fortunately, it’s also a really easy city to visit with a super small budget (you can check out my guide for more info: How to spend a day in Florence on a budget with kids). And, by opting for family-friendly accommodation and travelling into the city, visiting Florence becomes much more affordable – plus these campsites have fantastic swimming pools and facilities for the kids. So if you’re heading to Tuscany, here are my top picks for the 5 best Eurocamp holidays near Florence:
1. Eurocamp: hu Norcenni Girasole Village, Figline Valdarno
Located in the heart of Tuscany, hu Norcenni Girasole Village is one of the best Eurocamp holidays in Italy for a city adventure with the kids – it’s near Florence, Siena and Pisa! With three restaurants and three pool complexes, including waterslides and a lazy river, you’ll be spoilt for choice! There are tons of activities on offer too including high ropes, mini-golf, horse riding, sports and kids’ clubs – as well as wine tasting for the adults. For families who want to explore without hiring a car, you can catch a train from Figline Valdarno Station – just 5km from the resort – or the campsite offers its own bookable excursions too. The nearest airport to hu Norcenni Girasole Village is Florence Airport – around 45 minutes away. 2. Eurocamp: Le Capanne, Bibbona
Camping Le Capanne has one of the best swimming pools in Tuscany – this Eurocamp site offers loads of fun near Florence. Nestled among pine and olive trees, the site feels peaceful but there’s plenty to keep the little ones happy including fantastic castle-themed waterslides and mini-golf. There are loads of cycling routes nearby and it’s also a great base for day trips to Pisa or Florence – the site is conveniently based less than a five minute drive from Bolgheri train station, or you can drive to Florence in about 90 minutes. They offer kids’ clubs for tots through to late teens, as well as sports, and the lovely town of Bibbona is nearby. Aqua Village Waterpark in Cecina is also just a 15 minute drive away – perfect! The nearest airport to Camping Le Capanne is Pisa Airport – around 40 minutes away. 3. Eurocamp: Camping Village Valle Gaia, Casale Marittimo
For those seeking a tranquil retreat in Tuscany, Camping Village Valle Gaia is an excellent choice for a Eurocamp holiday near Florence – and it has THE best playground! My kids absolutely loved the huge play space, we spent most evenings there – check out my Camping Village Valle Gaia Review for all the details – we had a brilliant time! The park also features multiple swimming pools and a waterslide for even more fun, and it’s just a short drive to the beach. The drive to Florence takes 90 minutes, or hop on the train – Cecina train station is just 10km away. For a fun day out with the kids, Aqua Village Waterpark is also just a 15 minute drive from the campsite. The nearest airport to Camping Village Valle Gaia is Pisa – about a 40 minute drive. For more information, and prices for your dates, click here to check out Camping Village Valle Gaia on the Eurocamp website.
4. Eurocamp: hu Montescudaio Village, Cecina
Another one of the best spots for Eurocamp holidays near Florence, hu Montescudaio Village offers a great family-friendly base for your adventure in Tuscany. This park features a pool complex with four swimming pools, a few waterslides and a kids’ splash pool, plus there’s a kids’ club on-site too. It’s close to the beautiful Tuscan beaches – if you’d like to combine days in the city with fun on the sand. Florence is a 90 minute drive away, though Cecina train station is just a few minutes drive from the park if you’d prefer to travel by train. If you also want to visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa it’s a 50 minute drive, and Aqua Village Waterpark is just 10 minutes down the road. The nearest airport to hu Montescudaio Village is Pisa – approximately 35 minutes from the site. For more information, and prices for your dates, click here to check out hu Montescudaio on the Eurocamp website.
5. Eurocamp: hu Park Albatros Village, San Vincenzo
hu Park Albatros Village is not as near to Florence as the other Eurocamp sites (it’s around a 2 hour drive) but it’s one of the best spots for family fun in Tuscany so it just had to be included. It’s also a little bit special because it’s only a 20 minute drive from the Port of Piombino – from there you can hop on a ferry to visit the beautiful island of Elba. Back on-site you can catch the mini train to get around, and choose from 6 swimming pools! There’s also bike hire, mini-golf, pool tables, kids’ clubs, sports and even an aerial adventure course. This park has a lot to offer, as it’s right by the beach as well, so it may be worth the longer drive for your day trip to Florence. The nearest airport to hu Park Albatros Village is Pisa – about an hour’s drive away. When’s the best time to visit Tuscany?
The Eurocamp holiday parks in Italy really lend themselves to swimming pool fun for the kids – so I think that the best time for a family visit to Tuscany is definitely over the summer months or the shoulder seasons. We visited in September, and enjoyed lovely warm weather and less crowds than the summer months bring. We adored our stay at Camping Village Valle Gaia with the kids – so plan your trip between May and September and hopefully you can enjoy lots of sunshine and gelato! Tuscany is such a gorgeous place and I think these campsites near gorgeous cities like Florence and Pisa offer the perfect blend of culture, relaxation and fun – exactly what you’d want from a Eurocamp holiday in Italy.
How do I travel from the UK to my Eurocamp holiday in Italy?
For ferry and channel crossings to/from Calais – Eurocamp have access to discounted slots which are usually significantly cheaper than booking directly. The prices fluctuate slightly, but a return on the ferry from Dover to Calais is typically £100 (it was £112 for an example holiday on 8-15th Aug and ours was £95 in September) and the Le Shuttle Channel Crossing is around £250 (it was £254 for 8-15th Aug and a similar price for us in June). These costs were based on August dates – the price doesn’t really seem to change during peak school holiday times which is awesome!

Other routes: I’m not certain how many different ferry routes Eurocamp offer, but if you are looking for affordable options to/from a different location then the Direct Ferries website is the best place to look. It’s a comparison website for ferry travel so you can easily see all of the prices from different companies, which route options are available and any current offers running. If it’s not included then Direct Ferries is definitely the next best place to look for cheap ferry options.
For Eurocamp holidays with flights – You can’t book your flights through Eurocamp as a package deal, so you’ll need to book the flights yourself if you’d prefer not to drive. When it comes to the budget airlines, I think the best options are Jet2 and EasyJet – and for price comparison the Skyscanner website can be a great place to start. You can sort car hire easily on websites like Expedia, or book your transfers to and from the airport on the Suntransfers website before you go to make your trip stress free.
I hope that my article has helped you to decide which Eurocamp holiday park in Tuscany is the best option for your getaway near Florence – these are some brilliant options for family travel in Italy. Just make sure you pack some swimming caps – as lots of holiday parks in Italy require these to be worn when you’re using the pools. Tuscany is a dream destination full of history, culture, countryside and beautiful beaches – you won’t be disappointed. It’s important to note that many cities in Tuscany will have cobblestone streets, so comfortable shoes and lightweight strollers are essential. You can hire a travel stroller from Baboodle if need be. For some family itinerary ideas, be sure to check out my travel guide: How to spend a day in Florence on a budget with kids. Have a great trip! 😊
