Lake Garda is such a beautiful place to visit with so much to do, and it’s an easy place to get around if you’re looking for a stress-free Eurocamp holiday without a car. You can explore on foot, hop on the bus or catch a train further afield to have loads of fun adventures! 1. Eurocamp: Cisano San Vito

Lake Garda is one of the best spots in Italy for a family holiday – for our visit we stayed with Eurocamp at Cisano San Vito and had such a fabulous time – check out my Camping Cisano San Vito Review. Located between the lovely towns of Bardolino and Lazise, it’s great for active families – with swimming pools, waterslides and direct access to Lake Garda. We loved having the lake on our doorstep for evening walks, and we had some brilliant days out in Verona and Venice – you can drive there or hop on the train. hu Altomincio Village is another one of the best options for a Eurocamp family holiday by Lake Garda. The park boasts a fantastic pool complex with waterslides and splash areas, mini-golf, bike hire, a tree-top adventure course and kids’ clubs, while the surrounding countryside offers opportunities for walking and cycling. It’s just a ten minute drive to the lake so you can make the most of what Lake Garda has to offer, as well as sightseeing in Verona and Venice. Del Garda Village and Camping Eurocamp is just a 25 minute walk from Gardaland, and you can hop on a bus to visit Caneva Waterpark and Movieland Studios too – there are some great days out near this one! The site comes highly rated on TripAdvisor and features four swimming pools and waterslides. There are play areas, sports facilities and kids’ clubs, and its location is ideal for exploring Lake Garda. For families looking for a quieter holiday park, Camping Village Butterfly in Peschiera del Garda is perfect. This smaller site is ideal for families with younger children. It has a lovely swimming pool with a shallow area for little ones, a playground, sports and organised family activities. It’s just a short walk to Lake Garda – with a small lakeside beach 50m away – and it’s only a 15 minute walk to the train station. From there you can be sightseeing in Verona in about 20 minutes! This well-rated site has a lot to offer family holidays with several swimming pools – including a couple of toddler pools and a waterslide. The park boasts kids’ clubs, sports, a playground, a games room, pony rides and soft play. Plus, the kids can whizz through the air on the resort’s zip-wire! It’s a smaller site than some of the others, so it’s perfect for a calmer getaway. It’s just over an hour’s drive from Verona and 45 minutes from Gardaland and Movieland Studios. When’s the best time to visit Lake Garda?

To make the most of the swimming pools and kids’ activities at the Eurocamp holiday parks, the best time for families to visit Lake Garda is definitely over the summer months or shoulder seasons. We visited in September, and enjoyed lovely warm weather and less crowds than the summer months bring. We adored our stay in Lake Garda with the kids – there’s so much to do – so plan your trip between May and September to enjoy lots of sunshine and gelato! (Make sure you find out if you’ll need swimming caps – some holiday parks in Italy require them.)

To give you an idea of what the temperature might be like, here are the average daily highs and lows for Lake Garda across the year. Though, in the peak summer months, Lake Garda regularly experiences heatwaves – with temperatures climbing into the mid to high 30s especially in July and August.

What are the best things to do in Lake Garda with kids?

Lake Garda is packed with family-friendly things to do – from riding the rotating cable car up Monte Baldo for incredible views, to exploring fairy-tale towns like Sirmione with its castle. For the kids there are some fabulous fun-filled days out on offer – with both the Gardaland and Movieland Studios theme parks, plus Caneva Aquapark which is perfect for cooling off in the sunshine.

You can take scenic boat trips across the lake, stroll through pretty spots like Bardolino, or enjoy simple lakeside days swimming and picnicking. How do I travel from the UK to Lake Garda?

For ferry and channel crossings to/from Calais: Eurocamp have access to discounted slots which are usually significantly cheaper than booking directly. The prices fluctuate slightly but a return on the ferry from Dover to Calais is typically around £100 and the ‘Le Shuttle’ Channel Crossing was around £250 the last time we used it. The prices don’t really change during peak school holiday times either which is awesome! If you want to drive to Lake Garda from the UK, it’s around a 12-13 hour drive from Calais.

For Eurocamp holidays with flights: Eurocamp offer some package holiday deals through Jet2holidays which include car hire (click to check out). Not all resorts and destinations are available so many families book flights separately – use the Skyscanner website to hunt out the cheapest flights. You can sort car hire easily on websites like Expedia, or book your transfers to and from the airport through Suntransfers. The closest airport to Lake Garda is Verona Airport – flights from the UK are typically only about 2 hours and transfers tend to be short (often around 20 minutes) so it’s the perfect spot for a Eurocamp holiday without a car.
