If you’re looking for a fun family getaway in France, without a long a drive, this Eurocamp Holiday Review is all about La Croix du Vieux Pont – a 5 star resort near Paris. I’ve included our experiences, photos, details about the Eurocamp accommodation, what there is to do locally, driving time from the ports nearby, the closest airport and everything else that you need to know. We had such a great time and it’s a fabulous base for city adventures in Paris or theme park trips to Disneyland Paris and Parc Asterix – more on that below!

Eurocamp La Croix du Vieux Pont Review

Kirsty here! In August 2026, we took an easy road trip to La Croix du Vieux Pont. It’s super popular for its facilities, short drive time from Calais (just 2.5 hours) and its location – with places like Disneyland Paris, the city of Paris and other local attractions nearby. We really enjoyed our stay – it’s a fantastic campsite that caters well to kids of all ages (our girls aged 6 and 9 loved it!) and there’s plenty to do on-site. Here’s my review and everything that you need to know about staying with Eurocamp at La Croix du Vieux Pont in Paris, France.

What was La Croix du Vieux Pont like?

La Croix du Vieux Pont has absolutely loads going for it – with four swimming pools and a couple of waterslides (more on the pools below!). The communal areas, the restaurant, the shop, activities like bowling and the pool area were right at the front of the site grouped together. This made it really easy to access everything, and meant that the accommodation area was quiet. I’m going to start my review focussing on the activities on offer – as this is where La Croix du Vieux Pont really stands out from other Eurocamp resorts in France.

Swimming at La Croix du Vieux Pont:

The swimming pool complex at La Croix du Vieux Pont is great and we were so lucky to have some lovely sunny days to enjoy it all. However, there’s a mix of indoor and outdoor swimming so, even if the weather isn’t playing ball, you can still have a pool day. Kids will love the waterslides, lazy river and splash play areas, while there are shallower spots for younger children too. I’m going to do a bit of a photo dump in this part of my review as La Croix du Vieux Pont has quite a few different pool areas – the girls absolutely adore swimming so they loved it!

The dome pool was heated but the outdoor pool was quite cold – not that the girls cared! 😆 There’s also a lovely lagoon pool with its own sandy beach, so you can have a proper beach day without having to drive anywhere, though unfortunately it was closed during our visit. The water play equipment was a hit with Sienna and both girls liked the pool games that the staff organised. There are lots of sun beds dotted around (free), the pools were well-supervised by lifeguards and my husband was delighted that speedos weren’t enforced!

Activities at La Croix du Vieux Pont:

Aside from the pools, there’s plenty going on at La Croix du Vieux Pont to keep the whole family busy with activities like mini golf (€2 kids / €4 adults) and bowling (under 12 €7 / adults €9). We did loads of the activities and absolutely loved all of the quality time with the kids. For younger children, there are multiple playgrounds and some bouncy castles – our little one really enjoyed those! The girls also had a fantastic time on the trampolines (€2) and the quad bikes (€2). Plus, there’s an indoor soft play – which is perfect if the weather isn’t on your side or you’re staying out-of-season – it was €6 for the whole day.

The site caters for older kids and teenagers well – there are plenty of sports courts (with tournaments running over peak season) and a great choice of activities including archery, beach volleyball, a zip line and a climbing wall. If the weather lets you down, the bowling alley, pool tables, arcade, table tennis room and laser tag (under 12 €6 / adults €8) will keep even the fussiest of kids entertained. The girls loved the laser tag so much that we did it twice! The activities were really easy to book on-site and La Croix du Vieux Pont also offers kids’ clubs for children aged 4-17 over the peak summer months.

The lake is fabulous – you can hire pedalos (€10-€14) or canoes (€12-€16). We had two brilliant afternoons on the water – the girls thought the canoes were great fun. There’s fishing available as well, so we had a go at that too! La Croix du Vieux Pont is a really lovely resort to wander around with the lake, plenty of green spaces and the river nearby. You can hire bikes and ride on the local green paths or along the Aisne River.

The entertainment at La Croix du Vieux Pont was fantastic – the staff had my husband dancing, I did karaoke with our eldest and the girls loved the disco. The dancing in the pool was fabulous too! We thought this campsite had such a brilliant vibe and the staff were amazing – particularly with the kids’ club activities. If you’re looking for a Eurocamp holiday with loads to do this one is a great option – there’s so much on offer and tons of brilliant days out nearby! (More on that later!)

Food at La Croix du Vieux Pont:

We ate in the restaurant at La Croix du Vieux Pont and were really impressed – the food was really good, service was great and it was quick. The buffet was a hit with the girls and our little one even tried frogs legs! The buffet prices for our 2026 stay were:

Breakfast: €9.50 (kids) / €13.50 (adults and 15+)
Lunch: €16 (kids) / €21 (adults and 15+)
Dinner: €18 (kids) / €24 (adults and 15+)
Kids under 3 years old can eat for free

We had takeaway on a few occasions as well (as I really didn’t fancy cooking!). We ordered things like pizza, chicken burgers and chips and chicken drumsticks – those were the kids’ favourite. The supermarket on-site was great for everything else that we needed and it was great to have fresh bread and pastries for easy breakfasts and lunches. Examples of shop prices: 6 eggs €3.70, butter €2.70, baguette €1.20, frozen pizza €3.80, big bag of crisps €2.20. The shop was open from 7.30am-8pm during our stay.

Despite being self-catering, I actually felt like we were on holiday as I barely cooked and it was a nice break from reality! You can also book a dining package at La Croix du Vieux Pont if you don’t fancy cooking at all. If you want to find a bigger supermarket, the closest supermarket to La Croix du Vieux Pont is an Intermarché located nearby in the village of Vic-sur-Aisne / Berny-Rivière – it’s just a 3 minute drive or about a 15 minute walk from the campsite.

Things to do near La Croix du Vieux Pont:

Enjoy the magic at Disneyland Paris

As I mentioned before, La Croix du Vieux Pont is a popular base for a Disneyland Paris day trip. Just over an hour’s drive from the resort, it’s the biggest Eurocamp site near the theme park if you’re looking for a full family holiday alongside your Disney visit. With two theme parks packed with rides, shows, character meet-and-greets and plenty of Disney magic – it’s a magical family day out. Check out our Disneyland Paris Guide for more info.

Thrill-seek at Parc Asterix

Similarly, you’ll also find Parc Asterix located around 60 minutes from La Croix du Vieux Pont – offering yet another fun family day out. It’s packed with rollercoasters, water rides, live shows and attractions based around the famous Astérix and Obélix characters. There’s a good mix for all ages, from gentler rides for younger children to some seriously thrilling coasters for older kids and adults.

La Réserve Exotique

If your kids love animals as much as our girls do, La Réserve Exotique is a lovely little day out just a 20 minute drive from La Croix du Vieux Pont. It’s home to lots of exotic animals, including lemurs, monkeys, wallabies, tortoises and colourful birds, and there are walkthrough areas where you can get even closer to some of the animals. Sienna and Layla thought this day out was brilliant!

Have fun at Parc Canopée

Just a 10 minute drive from La Croix du Vieux Pont, Parc Canopée is a great option if your kids love climbing and adventure. Set in the forest, there are 13 treetop courses with obstacles, rope bridges, nets and zip lines – with courses suitable for little ones through to teens and adults. There’s also a summer toboggan run, which is great fun for little ones if they’re not a fan of heights!

Step back in time in Pierrefonds

Around 25 minutes from La Croix du Vieux Pont, Pierrefonds is a quaint place for a wander with the kids. Explore the fairytale-like Château de Pierrefonds, which Merlin fans might recognise from the BBC series, before heading down to the pretty lake where you can hire pedalos, enjoy the views of the castle and grab an ice cream.

Cycle along the River Aisne

La Croix du Vieux Pont sits right beside the River Aisne, so it’s a brilliant spot for getting out on two wheels and exploring the surrounding countryside. You can hire bikes directly from the park and follow quiet roads and green routes through the nearby villages and along the river.

Go sightseeing in Paris

Paris is close enough for a day trip from La Croix du Vieux Pont and there’s loads to see with kids. Tick off some of the big sights including the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame (free), take a boat trip along the Seine or simply wander around and stop for a crêpe along the way. If you’re visiting on a budget, plenty of the fun is simply seeing the famous landmarks and soaking up the atmosphere.

Was the accommodation good?

We booked a Premium holiday home through Eurocamp and were really pleased with it – we had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. The only thing that would have made it better would have been an oven – though we did have a hob, a microwave and a BBQ. The kitchen area also had a dishwasher which really did enhance our holiday – there’s nothing worse than washing up when you’re supposed to be having a rest! Our accommodation had a central living and kitchen area with a dining table, a seating area and a TV, 3 bedrooms, a shower room and an individual toilet.

We also had air-conditioning, plus black out curtains and bug screens on the windows which were great. It was lovely to sit out on the deck for breakfast, or for dinner and games in the evenings. Visiting during a heatwave, the temperature was around 30 degrees for the first few days so we made the most of the outdoors. The decking ran the whole length of the holiday home and was awesome – the lounge seating option is well worth booking if possible!

Just as a side note, if you’re looking at a range of Eurocamp accommodation types for your trip, (even though cleaning is included in all other countries) in France you can only get the cleaning service included if you book a Premium Exclusive holiday home or something from their Ultimate range. If you book from their other ranges you can pay extra to add the end of stay cleaning on, or tackle it yourself if you want to. What else do I need to know?

We were able to park directly in front of the holiday home that we stayed in, making it easy to load and unload the car of luggage and food shopping.
Most Eurocamp accommodation doesn’t come with a TV – it’s only included with their higher ranges – so it’s handy to take a tablet or laptop with you with some movies for when you want a quiet evening if it’s not included with your holiday home. We were surprised to find one in our Premium Accommodation – you might want to bring something like a Roku for streaming if you do have a TV.
All of the staff that we met on our trip were friendly, helpful and spoke very good English. This resort is owned by Eurocamp.
The resort had free WiFi around the main communal areas but we didn’t get any signal in our holiday home – that was an extra charge of €35 per week for a family.

Getting to La Croix du Vieux Pont from the UK

La Croix du Vieux Pont is perfect for a short family road trip in Northern France if you’re travelling by ferry or Le Shuttle. The resort is only about a 2.5 hour drive from Calais which suited us well as this was our first time driving abroad. Eurocamp have access to discounted ferry slots to Calais which are usually significantly cheaper than booking directly. The prices fluctuate but a return on the ferry from Dover to Calais is typically around £100 and the Le Shuttle Channel Crossing is around £250. Our toll costs came to around €13 each way.

For the following ferry routes, you’ll want to head to the Direct Ferries website to compare routes and hunt out the best price for your journey. La Croix du Vieux Pont is also accessible from these 3 ports in Brittany/Normandy:

St Malo: The ferry from the UK to St Malo takes 6 hours from Poole or around 10 to 11 hours from Portsmouth. Once you arrive in St Malo it’s a 5 hour drive.
Caen: The ferry from the UK to Caen usually runs from Portsmouth and takes around 6 hours. The drive from Caen to the resort is around 3.5 hours.
Roscoff: The ferry crossing from the UK to Roscoff operates from ports like Plymouth, taking around 6-7 hours. Once you reach France, you can expect a drive time of around 6.5-7 hours.

If you’d prefer to fly to La Croix du Vieux Pont then the nearest airport is Charles de Gaulle – around 50 minutes away. Use the Skyscanner website to find the cheapest flight prices – it’ll compare airlines, airports, dates and times for you.

How much does a Eurocamp holiday at La Croix du Vieux Pont cost – was it good value for money?

Hopefully my review has been helpful – our 7 night stay at La Croix du Vieux Pont near Paris, France, in a Eurocamp premium holiday home cost around £200 per night. This is pricier than some other Frugal Mum getaways as we travelled in mid August. If you’re working with a smaller budget, May half-term and term-time visits can be significantly cheaper – you can visit for a week in early June 2027 from around £400! We really enjoyed our stay – there’s plenty to keep the kids busy and it’s a great option for a summer break in France without a long road trip down South. If you’re restricted to school holiday dates then look for May half-term getaways – they’re always so much cheaper than the summer holidays!
