The summer holidays can be super expensive and this year, with so much rain, entertaining the kids indoors (and skipping the picnic) certainly won’t help matters. To help you stick to a budget, here’s a list of loads of places that the kids can eat for free or a quid this summer – from shops and supermarkets, to restaurants, to hotels and days out…

Stop at an Asda cafe and kids eat for £1 all day, with no adult spend at all. To make this offer even more appealing, they’re even including half-priced adult meals from 3pm onwards.

Dobbie’s Garden Centres

Available daily from 12pm, children can eat free when an adult purchases a main meal. Choose from the kids’ lunch menu or the pick ‘n’ mix lunch box meal, served with a sandwich, three snacks and a drink.

Dunelm – Pausa Cafe

Available all day, everyday, Dunelm’s Pausa Cafe is offering a free kids menu for every £4 spent in their in-store cafes; so you can feed the kids whilst browsing for cushions – my favourite essential item! 😉

If you need a pit stop in between selecting flat-packs, you can get the kids pasta with tomato sauce and a soft drink for 95p from 11am. Other kids meals are also available for the higher price of £1.50.

From 24th July until 1st September 2023, spend £5 in the M&S Cafe and your little ones can enjoy a main, a snack and a drink from the Kids’ Munch Menu for free!

Get a bargain family meal out while you do your weekly shop. Children under 16 eat free at Morrisons cafe all day, every day when an adult spends £4.49 or more on a meal.

Sainsbury’s cafe is offering a free kids hot meal or kids lunch bag with the purchase of any adult hot main meal from £5.20 during the summer school holidays. The offer is valid everyday from 11:30am until closure.

From from July 24 to September 1, Tesco cafes are offering one free Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal with any adult purchase. Offer valid across the UK, Mondays to Fridays only.

Beefeater lets two kids, under the age of 16, eat free breakfast with any adult breakfast purchased for £9.99. Available 6:30am – 10:30am midweek, and 7am – 11am at the weekend.

Bella Italia

At Bella Italia kids can get three courses and a drink for just £1 with every purchase of an adult meal, from 4-6pm, Monday-Thursday. Tables must be seated by 6pm to receive the offer and it does exclude some sites. (Available at the weekends in select locations too.)

Two kids eat free all day from July 24 until September 1 when one adult orders any main dish, weekdays only.

Brewers Fayre

Two children under 16 eat for free when one adult orders the £9.99 unlimited breakfast – they can also pick a single course off the children’s menu from just 99p.

Café Rouge

Kids can choose two or three courses from the children’s menu for just £1 with every adult who purchases a main course off the A La Carte menu this summer holiday, until 10 September. (Excludes Saturdays)

Gordon Ramsay

At selected Gordon Ramsay restaurants, kids can enjoy a main meal for free from the Ramsay kids’ menu. You can get one free kids meal per adult dining from the a la carte menu.

Hungry Horse pubs

Every Monday, children can eat for £1 at Hungry Horse pubs. There are also a range of larger children meals available for the slightly higher price of £1.50 for the older kiddies.

Sizzling Pub and Grill

Children can enjoy a £1 meal at Sizzling Pub and Grill with the purchase of an adult’s main meal. The offer is available on weekdays between 3pm and 7pm.

Table Table

Two kids under the age of 16 can get free, unlimited breakfast at Table Table’s all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast, with the purchase of an adult breakfast at a cost of £9.99.

TGI Fridays

Kids eat free all day everyday with the purchase of an adult main meal this summer. To claim, download their Stripes Rewards app – their customer loyalty scheme.

An extra tip!

Don’t forget that you can also use your Tesco Clubcard Vouchers for free meals out at their participating restaurants like Prezzo and Zizzis! And, Kids Pass have some fantastic 50% off restaurant offers, or Kids eat free deals! You can sign up for 30 days (to cover August!) for just a quid!

Hotels / Days Out

English Heritage

Any English Heritage Member spending £10 or more in an English Heritage cafe will receive up to two free children’s lunch bags, including a drink, sandwich, crisps, fruit and cake this summer. Offer runs from 1 July to 31 August 2023.

Heathrow Airport

If you’re jetting off on holiday over the summer, it’s handy to know that kids can eat for free at participating restaurants in Heathrow Airport – including: Wondertree, Big Smoke, Leon, Giraffe, The Globe and more until 3 September. You can find the full list here.

Holiday Inn

Kids eat (and stay) free at Holiday Inn – available for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel’s dine-in restaurant. An adult hotel guest must order at least one course from the full priced menu. (Up to four children per dining family.)

Premier Inn

At selected Thyme restaurants in over 250 locations (find the restaurants taking part here), available to people who are staying there and non-residents, this deal runs from 10 July to 1 September. Up to two under-16s can get a main from the kids menu for £1 when an adult buys a drink over £1.99 and a main off the core evening menu. If breakfast is more your thing, when an adult orders a full Premier Inn Breakfast or a Meal Deal, up to two under 16s eat breakfast for free.

The Travelodge ‘unlimited breakfast’ costs £8.99; and kids aged 15 and under eat completely free for every full paying adult.
