There’s sno-way you’ll have more fun for £6 than this – Folkestone Sports Centre has an excellent way to keep the kids entertained on a budget! Here’s all the info you’ll need, and some throwback photos from some of our snow-ring fun!

What is a snow-ring?

The snow-rings at Folkestone Sports Centre are essentially dinghys that you sit in to fly down their dry ski slope. For both kids and adults, tobogganing down the ski slope is such a laugh. You have to carry your own dinghys back to the top so it’s a great way to wear the kids out – and a major thigh workout for the grown-ups when they inevitably make mum and dad help! 😂

It can get busy in the school holidays – so book in advance to make sure you get a space.

Is it good value for money?

My two love the snow-rings and it’s such good value for money at just £6 for an hour. It’s the perfect thing to do on a school holiday morning, if you’re looking for a peaceful afternoon – everyone will need a rest afterwards. 😂  It’s a great place to meet their mates and let off some steam. (And I have to be honest – I really enjoy it too!)

Just make sure that you don’t plan to use the snow-rings on a baking hot day as the hot weather, mixed with a slope to climb repeatedly and long-sleeve clothing, can be a bit much! It’s actually the perfect activity for cooler / overcast weather.

What facilities are there?

There’s also a swimming pool, a Sky Walk and other sports activities available at the Sports Centre, so you could make a day of it if you wanted to check out what else is on offer. I find that everything is generally really well-priced and affordable at the Sports Centre.

There’s a restaurant on site if the troops are starving afterwards. The food isn’t brilliant, but the centre is close to the town centre so it’s easy to find somewhere nearby to eat if need be.

If you’ve got any energy left afterwards, Radnor Park playground is only a few minutes walk away. And, the brilliant Lower Leas Coastal Park isn’t far either!
