Piñatas are always a hit – no pun intended. If you’re short on time, you can purchase a piñata for around £12 on Amazon. But if you’re up for a bit of DIY, you can make your own very cheaply and it’s a fun way to make Easter extra special!
Easter is actually the perfect time for a DIY piñata – balloons make a great egg shape with paper-mache and filled with yummy goodies it’s a fab Easter treat.
Here’s a super simple way to make a DIY paper mache Easter egg piñata…
How to make a paper mache piñata
Step 1: Mix one part water with one part flour to create a gooey paste.
Step 2: Blow up a balloon and cut newspaper into strips.
Step 3: Dip the newspaper strips into the paste, squeezing off any excess. Apply to the balloon.
Step 4: Repeat Step 3, layering the newspaper on until the balloon is covered with three/four layers. Leave an opening at the top for the sweets.
Step 5: Let it dry for at least 24 hours. Then pop the balloon and attach the string.
Step 6: Fill with goodies and tape up the opening.
Step 7: Decorate to suit your chosen theme!
